Next steps to be
fiscally hosted
Is The Social Change Nest the right fit for you? If so, the below is designed to give you an overview of the application process to become fiscally hosted by us on Open Collective.
Please complete this initial Open Collective page application form. You begin by clicking the 'Apply' button.
When creating your page, make sure you are applying to be fiscally hosted by 'The Social Change Nest CIC'.
Next, please complete this slightly longer Social Change Nest set up form, where you will be asked for more details about your group/ collective, and to provide website/ social media links etc. We will then conduct our Due Diligence checks and add you to our system.
At the end of the SCN application form, you will be asked to book an onboarding call with Aneesa, who is in charge of Open Collective at SCN - please do mention to her that you have been in touch with Rufaro already.
Aneesa will demo the platform to show you how it works, and explain why it's important to have an expense policy (click here to see a guidance document to help you draft yours). She will also explain why you'll need to have at least two admins* on your page.
*Please ensure the nominated admins join this call to learn how to use the platform, set up the page etc.
Once we have had the onboarding call, you will be asked to complete post-onboarding checks that include adding your expense policy to your page, and ensuring the two admins are in place.
Once this is done, email hello@thesocialchangenest.org to notify us and Aneesa will review your page before taking you live!
What you need to know
Please let us know if you have any questions, and kindly note that onboarding takes approximately 4- 5 weeks to process. All applications are subject to us conducting our standard due diligence on your group before the page goes live.
Based on your groups activities we may ask for some policies to be in place, all this is to ensure you are keeping yourselves safe and operating in a safe manner – read more about looking after each other.
We might ask for the following:
- A health a safety policy: here is a template to guide you, along with this helpful reading resource.
- A safeguarding policy: here is a template to guide you
- A decision making/ governance document: here is a resource to guide you
These are not complex legal documents, but they must cover whatever you find most suitable based on the kinds of activities you’ll be doing with your group. For any other policies you may need, I would encourage you to check RadHR’s policy library here. It’s a fantastic free resource.
