SUMMER PARTY 2025 highlights

On the 12th of June, we celebrated our 5th anniversary surrounded by friends and supporters. It was an evening of connection and reflection, where we launched our latest impact report, and took a moment to recognise everything that we’ve built together over the past 5 years.

One of the big themes we reflected on was the current funding landscape. Unincorporated movements push forward transformative change in our communities every single day, and now it’s the time for funders to be bold and step up.

Miri Weingarten, Director of Disrupt Foundation, opened our event by speaking to this need. She talked about the narrowing space for civil society organising, the need for funders to support nimble and agile actors that are deeply anchored in their communities, and the role of The Social Change Nest in providing these with vital infrastructure.

Esther Foreman, our CEO, followed by talking about our work helping funders get their money to the places where it’ll create the most impact, and working alongside them to change their attitudes towards risk and power.

Kiki Mager, Director of Resource Mobilisaion at the Good Ancestor Movement, talked about their vital work supporting progressive wealth holders with responsible wealth stewardship and reparative redistribution, and about how The Social Change Nest is supporting them in building and redistributing a fund for that purpose.

And of course, we talked a lot about impact! The incredible progress we’ve made in just 5 years and the long road ahead. We also had the privilege of hearing from one of our favourite groups, Farming the Future, who talked about their powerful work and the role of our partnership. Thanks Bonnie!

Here are some of our favourite impact stats from the report:

  • 640 civil society groups are hosted by us
  • 80% of those are not incorporated
  • £37 million – the amount of funding we have moved
  • 51% of our groups report having received a grant they couldn’t otherwise have received thanks to SCN
  • 88% of our groups report SCN has influenced their work in a positive way
  • 77% of our groups report that SCN has enabled them to feel more at peace about their group’s finances
  • 70% of our groups report that SCN has enabled them to build more trust and transparency within their group
  • 69% of our groups report that SCN enables their group to have more impact
