SUMMARY:'Signal in the Noise' - Six climate opinion trends from 2025 & what’s next
DESCRIPTION:Signal in the Noise is Climate Barometer’s annual publication that monitors and makes sense of patterns and trends in opinion on climate change. \nThis year’s Signal in the Noise is both a look back at the six trends from 2025 that defined the year in public opinion on climate change\, and a look forward to the topics\, risks and opportunities that will shape public engagement in 2026. \nJoin the Climate Barometer team\, digital researcher Ed Harrison (University of Bath and Horizon Intelligence)\, Rachael Orr (Climate Outreach) and Claire Brown (Larger US) in a conversation that will cover: \n\nHas public opinion fractured and polarised like the political consensus\, or is there a different story to tell\, to drive public engagement in 2026?\nWhy do large ‘perception gaps’ persist between MPs’ estimates of public support for renewables and what people actually think – and what work is needed to close them?\nWhere do the risks – and opportunities – lie in engaging Reform supporters (and Reform-curious voters) in the year ahead?\nAs ‘green populism’ has its moment\, how are voters responding to this kind of messaging?\nAnd with the drive for net zero becoming ever more local\, what new insights do campaigners need to stay ahead?\n\nDrawing on their tracker of public and MP opinion\, a new social listening analysis by Ed Harrison\, and the public engagement expertise of the guest speakers Rachael Orr and Claire Brown\, this will be an opportunity to build on the opinion signals of 2025 to guide the engagement strategies of 2026. \nReserve your spot to attend!

SUMMARY:Rest\, Joy\, and Doing Less (on purpose)
DESCRIPTION:In a world where crises feel constant and the demands on community organisers\, volunteers\, and social impact workers seem endless\, burnout has become far too common. But rest is not a luxury – it’s a vital\, radical act of care for ourselves and our communities. Held by The Community Nest\, this session is a sincere invitation to pause\, breathe\, and reflect together on how doing less can actually do more for us – and the movements we’re part of. \nLed by Samantha Sanns\, an experienced facilitator\, coach and stand up comic\, this session invites you to explore a gentler\, softer kind of resistance – one rooted in joy\, rest\, and collective care. \n\n  \nThe Social Change Nest

SUMMARY:We are the funder now 2
DESCRIPTION:Are you part of a small community group and want to raise some money but don’t know where to start? \nPerhaps you don’t have a bank account or a way to collect donations but you feel like people would support you if you did. \nMaybe you’ve heard about the issues with applying for grant funding and you’ve decided you don’t want to go down that route – or you just wouldn’t meet the criteria anyway \n  \nMany groups are encouraged to register as charities or Community Interest Companies (CIC) so that they can open a bank account and receive money\, but then end up with lots of paperwork and spending hundreds of pounds every year on accounting fees. \nDid you know you don’t need to be a registered organisation or have a bank account to raise money? Some charities or CIC’s (like Social Change Nest) will host your group\, providing access to their legal status and bank account (this is called Fiscal Sponsorship/Hosting). Platforms like Open Collective allow this to happen with ease\, giving your group an easy and transparent way to collaboratively manage your money. Crowdfunding\, monthly donations\, receiving grants and a whole lot more is then available to your group. Some banks will allow you to open an account without being a registered organisation if you do want to go that route. Card readers could enable you to collect donations more easily at events (now that no one carries cash anymore!). There are lots of possibilities. \nThe number one reason people give donations? Because they are asked!
